What is even going on in these pictures
It’s Invader ZIM. We don’t need to question the insanity.
What we should be questioning is the presence of Dib as Membrane’s assistant.
Is he a regular on the show? If so, what would have been the point of the episode ‘Battle Dib’ (which, BTW, is where we see these title cards) if he was already an established member on the set?
Or even if it was a one time occurrence (possible a stunt pulled by Membrane himself to prove his son wasn’t ‘insane’), the staff and security should know who Dib is already, and thus, the entire exam sequence in order to see his father proves rather pointless.
This is something that just always bugged me. Probably the only one though.

I really don’t have any idea what he’s doing in that picture :/ He’s probably not Membrane’s assistant or a regular because like you said, the guards and everyone would (probably) know him. And based on the look on his face, if he actually was Membrane’s assistant he probably would have quit after the first day.
That’s the only picture that shows audience members though so maybe that one was taken somewhere off the show or something?
I don’t think he’s membranes assistant- I think he’s trying to get him to sign something? Maybe? I don’t know, it looks like he has no idea what mem is doing
